So you want to know about El Mono? What is that you want to know? Well, if you don't know let's take the time to let you know a bit about the person, the life of El Mono. I think I'll start in the year nineteen hundred and eighty-four (1984).El Mono, born Patrick Jervis, Jr., was born on October 20, 1984 in Oceanside, California. He was raised by his mother and father, who are retired Marines. In 1990, along with his family, El Mono, moved to Rialto, California with his family.
When trying to look back through his life in elementary and middle school, El Mono expresses that "there is no need to repeat that again." His peer life in those time periods were not the best at times, well most of the time. Even though threre were those few friends that helped him get through the "more downs than ups" of each time period.
On the other hand, high school was a time for El Mono to blossom and discover who he was. Even though he says that this was "impartial growth," it was a time where he began to open up more socially. While in high school he participated in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Future Homemakers of America: Home Economics Related Organization (FHA-HERO), Internship, Cross Country and Track & Field. At this time, he developed his artistic talent in Fashion and Graphic Design. Before he knew it high school was a memorable experience that had ended and led him off to being indecisive about college and just attending a local community college, San Bernardino Valley College.
At Valley College, where El Mono gained his nickname, he participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Cross Country and Track & Field. The two years that he spent there were also "a blossoming time to get to know myself more and meet my close friend, Chucho." The time there should an improvement socially, as well as phyiscally.
During the time at Valley College, he also volunteered his hours at the San Bernadrino County Superintendent of School, School Linked Programs. There is where he learned to improve social skills, while finding his "mothers within an organization." Which led him to his tutoring job at a local teen getaway center not to far down the road from SBCSS. El Mono says it was "one of the best experiences of my life." Learning, patience and to live life to fullest while having fun is what it was all about.
In the Fall of 2004, El Mono began his academic presence at Arizona State University. He has decided to double major in Business Marketing and Graphic Design. This being the first time away from home, he has learned a lot. Joining the Residential Hall Association (RHA) and his residential hall council, he learned to reach out and help his academic community. He has designed a shirt for the organization, as he has done before in previous years.
This year in 2005-2006, El Mono decided to take a break and is working on getting back in school for the fall.
When time permits, El Mono likes to be a side artist. He creates t-shirt prints, logos, websites and freelance art. He expresses with excitement that it would be "awesome to create an album cover for a popular mainstream artist or record company." When talking about goals, he has many in mind. He would like to publish a book of poetry and "romantic thought," create his own fashion line, running his own company and be a freelance artist for an enumerating list of popular businesses and organizations, including recording companies.
